It has been said that Omaha Poker will someday replace Texas Hold'em as the new poker standard. Omaha is a variation of Texas Hold'em. In Omaha poker, each player is dealt 4 personal pocket cards face down rather than 2 as in Texas Hold'em. In the showdown at the end of the game, players can only use 2 of their personal pocket cards along with 3 of the five communal cards. 

Since Omaha is played similar to Hold'em, you'll have a shorter learning curve is you've already placed it. In order to join the game, the minimum amount of chips that you need to start is enough for a blind bet and a regualar bet.

• The basic object of the game is to finish with the best hand and thus win the pot.

• The first player on the dealer's left posts a small blind bet. The second Player posts the big blind bet.

• The dealer changes after every game. 

• The dealer-button shows the current dealer.

• Four personal pocket cards are dealt to each player face down. .

• In the first round, the third player plays first and can either fold, bet or raise. A bet is required because the first two players have already placed money on the table in the form of the small and big blinds.

• During the first round, each player is allowed one bet up to three raises.

• During the second round three community cards are dealt face up. After this "flop" is dealt a round of betting starts.  Players have the choice to Check, Fold, Call or Raise. 

• During the third round a fourth community card is dealt face up. After this "Turn" is dealt a round of betting starts. Players have the choice to Check, Fold, Call or Raise.

• During the fourth round the fifth and last community card is dealt face up. After this "River Card" is dealt a round of betting starts. Players have the choice to Check, Fold, Call or Raise.

• Whatever players remain in the game use two of their personal pocket cards and three of the community cards to create the best five card high hand possible.

For all tables with blinds $0.05/$0.10 and up with 2 players the rake per pot is $0.01 per $0.20 with a maximum rake of $1. For a table with blinds of $0.05/$0.10 and up with 3 to 10 players the rake per pot is $0.01 per $0.20 with a maximum rake of $3. 

Only players who contribute to the pot are subject to the rake. As such, those players who post a blind, bet, raise or re-raise are subject to the rake. Likewise, players who sit out a hand do not have their rake allocations credited for that hand.

Poker Basics

Poker is a game where players bet against other players. The winner of the pot of money is the one who has the highest ranked hand at the end of the betting rounds. Players bet against each other by adding money to the pot until no one wants to add another bet believing that they do not have the highest ranked hand.
